We’re Showing Our Sense of Community at Its Best

Business owners and individuals across the country rallied to provide support and donations in response to the devastating wildfires that swept through parts of Fort McMurray and beyond. We weren’t surprised when DC Payments employees showed their typical generosity with a 50/50 raffle fundraiser. The dollars just rolled in, and we’re proud to say we were able to give a sizeable donation to the Canadian Red Cross Alberta division, whose members provided food, shelter, and financial help for victims.

Coming together

Another great fundraiser enabled us to donate $2,000 to the Canadian Cancer Society’s Daffodil Month event, a nationwide initiative to support Canadians living with cancer.

A couple of enterprising DC Payments staff members set up a kitchen at our warehouse and cooked up some amazing breakfast grub for colleagues who ordered from an online menu the social committee sent out.

Everyone dug deep into their wallets and pockets to pay handsomely for the feast.

The result: Employees donated a hefty $1,000, which DC Payments was happy to match, for our contribution to this worthy case.

Showing Support

Another cause we’ll be supporting on the not-too-distant horizon is the annual “Hope Help Home” concert benefitting Community Living Victoria (CLV) Nov. 18. What began as a small, dedicated group of parents has grown into the largest nonprofit community service provider on Vancouver Island. For more than 60 years, CLV has provided a wide range of services to people with developmental disabilities in Victoria, while at the same time promoting participation in the community. This mission is so close to our hearts, DC Payments is the title sponsor at the McPherson Playhouse in Victoria.

The November event features The Beautiful Gypsies, headlined by the one and only Alan Doyle, actor, producer, and newly minted bestselling author. Alan is best known, of course, as lead singer for Newfoundland’s beloved Great Big Sea.  All ticket sale proceeds go directly to support Community Living Victoria.

Trade Show Update

Meanwhile, on the trade show front, we’ll be out meeting current and potential customers at several events in the coming months.

Following our successful participation in Cardware at Niagara Falls in mid-June, we’re planning to exhibit at:

  • The Convenience U Carwacs Show, Sept 28-29, in Calgary. This is Western Canada’s largest trade event for the convenience, gas, and car wash industries.
  • Manitoba Hotel Association, Oct. 25, in Winnipeg for the hospitality and accommodation industries (hotels, restaurants, motels, bars, clubs, legions, cafeterias, and more). It’s a great opportunity to find new products and learn new ways to increase sales, expand product offerings, and reduce costs.
  • CAFE (Canadian Association of Fairs and Exhibitions) conference and exhibition, Nov. 16-18, at Fredericton, NB. This nonprofit organization represents a broad spectrum of rural fairs and large urban exhibitions.

If any of these events are in your territory or business sphere, we hope to see you there!
